Yankees Sink Cards In Extras

A three-run 12th inning lifted the Yankees to a 6-4 win over the Cardinals in the first of three from Busch Stadium. Brian Roberts and Brendan Ryan each had RBI singles and Alfonso Soriano knocked in a run with sac fly in the decisive frame. Reliever Alfredo Aceves grabbed the win and David Robertson locked down his 11th save despite allowing a run. New York has won three in-a-row to move to 27-and-23. Four different St. Louis players drove in a run in the defeat. Kolten Wong and Matt Adams each had two hits. Reliever Randy Choate fell to 0-and-2. The Cards sit at 28-and-23 after having a two-game winning streak snapped.

The Cardinals presented a gift to retiring Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter prior to yesterday's game. The Cards gave Jeter a pair of Stan Musial cuff links and donated 10-thousand dollars to his "Turn 2 Foundation." Jeter is playing in his 20th and final season.
