Washington will now prepare for the 9th District Tournament after falling to Quincy 4-1 in the quarterfinal of the Blue Springs Wood Bat Tournament Saturday afternoon. The tournament will get underway Thursday with games at Westhoff Park in O'Fallon and the Rec-Plex in St. Peters.

Washington won the 9th District Post Season Tournament Championship Saturday afternoon with a 3-1 victory over Elsberry. Gus Kleekamp pitched a complete game as Post 218 notched its 25th win of the year against just four losses. Elsberry drops to 32-8. Both teams advance to the zone tournament this week, which will be hosted by Washington. The games will be played at Borgia Regional High School.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Senior Baseball Player Spencer Juergens from St. Francis Borgia Regional High School in Washington. Spencer is the Ace of the pitching staff with a 4-0 record. He has given up just one run this season and currently sports an earned run average of .33. Spencer has allowed 11 hits in 21 innings but no extra base hits. He has struck out 16 while walking two for a strike out to walk ratio of 8.1.
