Washington Legion Baseball Post 218 AAA offense too much for Sullivan in 20-5 rout

In senior legion action last night, Washington pounded Sullivan 20-5 in seven innings. John Himmelberg had four hits and Nick Thiel three with Seth Bollmann driving home five runs. Chris Bethel and Ross Seitter pitched with Bethel posting the win. Washington improves to 17-9 overall and 9-5 in district action.

Washington is back in action tonight with a home game against St. Peters. Game time is 8:30 on KLPW-AM 1220. Austin Finder is the scheduled starter.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Freshman Cross Country Runner Julia McIntyre from New Haven High School. Julia finished sixth in the state meet in Jefferson City with a time of 20:58.40 at the Oak Hills Golf Course in Jefferson City earlier this month. She helped her team to a 12th place finish. Julia was a straight A student at Franklin County R-2 and she continues to get A's in high school.

Scottie Upshall scored the game-winning goal early in the third period to help the Blues slip by the Blue Jackets 3-1 at the Scottrade Center. Vladimir Tarasenko added his 14th goal of the season and Jake Allen made 23 saves to earn the win for St. Louis, which improved to 15-6-and-3. Ryan Johansen tallied the lone goal for Columbus, which had won two straight. Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 29 of 31 shots in the loss.
