On the evening of December 2, nearly the entire nation of Venezuela went dark in the second massive power outage to take place in less than a year. Rather than take responsibility for the failures of the state-owned electric company, socialist president Nicolas Maduro instead told the Venezuelan people to "be strong against this electrical war that fascists have declared against our people."
The Cardinals continue to be quiet at baseball's Winter Meetings in Florida. The Redbirds have not been involved in any signings or trades thus far at the annual Hot Stove gathering. The Cards are still seeking a right-hand hitting infielder. The meetings run through Thursday.
