Blue Springs Tournament
Washington beat Bellevue, Nebraska 4-2. Post 218 improves to 2-0 in pool play.

Washington is off to a good start in pool play from the Blue Springs Wood Bat Tournament. Post 218 shutout the Gravette Lions from Arkansas 7-0. Ryan Becszlko finished with two sacrifice bunts, a double and two batted in as Washington improved to 23-9 on The Tournament will run through Sunday

Juniors
9th District Post-Season Tournament...
Washington edged Union 2-1 at Ronsick Field. Adam Gauzy was the winning pitcher. Post 218 scored in the first and seventh. Union's lone run came in the fourth. Washington finished with seven hits and no errors. Union finished the game with five hits and one error. Washington will play St. Peters Friday at 6:00 at Ronsick Field.

Freshman
9th District Post-Season Tournament...
Washington shutout Hannibal 3-0 at Elsberry. Zach Finley pitched six innings for the win and Zach Stahlman finished things off pitching the seventh for the save. At the plate, Jacob Unnerstall doubled in two runs. Washington is back in action Friday night at 8:30 at the Elsberry Legion Field.

ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Senior Taylor Covington with the New Haven Track and Field Team. Taylor earned All-State honors medaling in four events at the state track meet at Lincoln University in Jefferson City Friday and Saturday. She ran anchor on the 4X800 relay team that finished in sixth place.

Commencement, it is said, is a beginning. Yet graduations are also the end of an era--for students and their parents. For the kids, it's a time of excitement and promise. For parents, it's a bit more bittersweet.

What will the future hold for the Class of 2015? Time will tell.

My youngest has now graduated from high school. Back in 1980, I was the youngest of my family who graduated.

Ben Stephens pitched into the ninth inning leading Warrenton to a 5-0 win over Washington at Ronsick Field. Stephens struck out 10 and walked three before leaving the game. Washington loaded the bases in the ninth, but the game was called when heavy rain and lightning moved in. Warrenton scored single runs in the first, sixth, and seventh and added two insurance runs in the ninth.
