Washington American Legion Baseball

The question of whether the Washington senior legion baseball season will continue into the zone tournament will be answered tonight. The West Jaguars will play St. Charles in the championship of the 9th district post-season tournament this evening at Westhoff Park and if West wins, Washington advances to the zone tournament at Lindenwood Univerisity in St. Charles. If St. Charles wins, they go. West and Daniel Boone have already qualified for zone by finishing one/two in the regular season standings. Washington was knocked out of the district tournament Saturday night following a 14-1 loss to West.

The Washington Juniors dominated the zone 1 tournament over the weekend capping it off with a 16-0 win over Chillicothe in the championship game Saturday afternoon. Washington will advance to the state tournament in Jackson this week.

The Washington Freshman won the state title Sunday morning with a 3-0 win over
St. Genevieve.

The same holds true for those who sum up the plight of impoverished black communities as "that's how those people are."

Lackey was acquired from Boston at the trade deadline and his contract had a clause allowing for a league-minimum option after missing the entire 2012 season due to elbow surgery.
