USOC Gauges Interest In 2024 Games

The United States Olympic Committee on Tuesday sent a letter to mayors of 35 U.S. cities to gauge interest in hosting the 2024 Summer Games. Letters went out to the 25 largest cities in the country as well as 10 others that previously expressed interest. Previous hosts Los Angeles, Atlanta and St. Louis are among the invites. The USOC has another two-and-a-half years to decide whether to submit an official bid for the 2024 Games.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Seth Schenck. The New Haven Junior won the state title in the the 800 meter run at Lincoln University in Jefferson City. His time of 1:59.20 set a new school record. Seth also took second in the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:30.49 and anchored the 4X800 relay team that captured seventh place. Seth also played basketball and ran cross country in his junior year at New Haven.

Logan-Rogersville has advanced to the Class 4 Quarterfinal following an 8-6 win over the Sullivan Eagles Wednesday afternoon at Bank of Sullivan Park. Sullivan pitcher Seth Mesey got out of a bases loaded jam in the first inning and the Eagles grabbed a 2-1 lead after two. But the Wildcats took a 3-2 lead in the third, added three runs in the fourth and one in the sixth and went on for an 8-6 win.
