U.S. Eliminated By Belgium In Round Of 16

The United States has been eliminated from the World Cup after their 2-1 loss to Belgium in the knockout stage yesterday. After a scoreless 90 minutes, Belgium scored twice in extra time to take a 2-nil lead. Julian Green scored the lone goal for the U.S. in the 107th minute and goalkeeper Tim Howard set a record for most saves in a World Cup match with 16. Belgium moves on to face Argentina in the quarterfinals Saturday.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Senior Baseball Player Kyle Ruediger from New Haven High School. At the plate, Kyle has a team leading .486 average with 14 rbi, two triples and six doubles. He has struck out just five times while drawing 11 walks. Kyle also has seven stolen bases on the year. He plans to attend the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Early Thursday morning, I received news that vandals had broken in to St. Francis Borgia Grade School in Washington, causing extensive damage to several classrooms and offices. School was closed for the day as the Washington Police Department went about their business of securing what had changed from a school community to a crime scene overnight.
