Two Tigers Recognized

Evan Boehm and Markus Golden have both been named to pre-season award watch lists. Boehm is on the Outland Trophy Watch List which is given to the top interior lineman on either side of the ball. Boehm is one of 64 players up for the award. Golden was named to the Bronko Nagurski Trophy which goes to the nation's top defensive player overall. Golden grabbed six-and-a-half-sacks and played in only 40-percent of the snaps last season.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Union Senior Bethany Coons. Bethany finished the basketball season at Union averaging 11 points and eight assists per game. Coach Dusty Weiskopf says Bethany is good at handling the basketball and teams would find it difficult to press Union when Bethany was in the game because of her lateral movement. When combining her scoring and assist averages, Bethany was contributing about 25 points per game.

Arizona, Kentucky, Notre Dame and Wisconsin are into the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament. The second-seeded Wildcats outscored Xavier 19-7 over the final seven minutes to pull out a 68-60 win in Los Angeles. Arizona will face Wisconsin, which beat fourth-seeded North Carolina 79-72, in the West Regional Final on Saturday.
