Tigers Fall to Southern Miss 71-63 in NIT

Neil Watson scored 18 points and Aaron Brown added 16 to help Southern Mississippi beat Missouri 71-63 in the second round of the National Invitation Tournament on Sunday. Southern Mississippi (29-6) has won eight of its past nine games and will play at No. 1 seed Minnesota on Tuesday for the right to go to the semifinals at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Jeremiah Eason's layup broke a 14-14 tie with 9:34 remaining in the first half and the Golden Eagles led the rest of the way. Missouri cut its deficit to three points on a 3-pointer by Earnest Ross with 14:41 left, but the Tigers could get no closer. Ross scored 22 points while Jabari Brown and Jordan Clarkson both added 13 for Missouri (23-12).

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Washington Senior Softball Player Megan Freitag. Megan is a four year starter in center field and is rock solid with the glove as she made several diving catches throughout her career. Megan is also good with the bat. She hit third in the lineup and finished as the career leader in home runs at Washington High School with 10. She has always been a very good student maintaining an "A" average.

When people threaten violence or blankly label one as a racist, it's very hard to listen. The same holds true for those who sum up the plight of impoverished black communities as "that's how those people are."

Austin Davis threw for 152 yards and two touchdowns to help the Rams sink the Super Bowl champion Seahawks 28-26 from the Edward Jones Dome. Stedman Bailey returned a punt 90 yards for a TD while Tre Mason rushed for 85 yards and a touchdown for St. Louis, which snapped a three-game slide. Benjamin Cunningham and Lance Kendricks each hauled in a TD pass.
