Taveras Hits Grand Slam In Win Over Marlins

Oscar Taveras jacked a grand slam highlighting a six-run first inning that the Cardinals rode to an 8-2 win over Miami. Matt Carpenter walked twice and scored two runs for the Cards, while starter Jake Westbrook gave up one run on four hits in his lone inning on the mound. Westbrook left the game with a bruised left knee. Carlos Beltran also left with a bruised left toe after getting hit by a pitch, X-rays were negative. The Cards are in Kissimmee to take on Houston today.

The shootings at Emmanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina, however, stands out for two main reasons.

It involved race, and it was done it a church.
