Syracuse Remains On Top In "USA Today" Poll

Unbeaten Syracuse remains number-one in this week's "USA Today" top-25 college basketball poll. The 23-and-0 Orange received all 32 first-place votes to hold the top spot for the second straight week. Fellow unbeaten Wichita State, at 25-and-0, remains number-two. Arizona is third, followed by Florida and San Diego State. Villanova, Kansas, Louisville, Duke and Michigan State round out the top-10. Oklahoma State fell out of this week's rankings. The St. Louis Billikens have moved up to 12th this week.

At the plate, Adam is a switch hitter with an avarage of .315, an on-base percentage of .427 and a slugging percentage of .342.

Ryan Sweeney went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and 4 RBI as the Chicago Cubs hung on to beat the St. Louis Cardinals, 7-6, in the opener of a three-game set. Luis Valbuena smacked a two-run shot and crossed the plate three times for the Cubs, who handed the Cardinals their fourth straight loss. Kevin Siegrist (1-2) gave up the tie-breaking two-run homer to Valbuena in the seventh and was tagged with the loss.
