Syracuse New Number One In Men's College Hoop

Syracuse is the new number-one team in the "USA Today" top-25 men's college basketball poll. The undefeated Orange received all 32 first-place votes to take over the top spot from Arizona, which lost at Cal on Saturday. Syracuse knocked off Notre Dame 61-55 on Monday night at home to improve to 22-and-0 on the season. Unbeaten Wichita State moved up to second, with Arizona dropping two spots to third. Florida is fourth, followed by San Diego State. Villanova, Cincinnati, Michigan State, Kansas and Louisville round out the top-10. UMass and Memphis fell out of this week's poll. St. Louis U. moved up to 15th this week.

It came as a shock to a lot of people to find out that the contract for the Union license office, which has been operated by the Union Chamber of Commerce since the 1970's, was being turned over to a for-profit company based out of Jefferson City.

What happened? It's a classic case of two all-too-common phenomena in the world of government--unintended consequences and the revolving door.
