Stanley Cup On Display In St. Peter’s

The Stanley Cup is to be on display at the Rex-Plex in St. Peters. Chicago Blackhawks player Branson Bollig, a native of St. Charles, Missouri and 2005 graduate of Francis Howell North High School, decided to put the cup in a place he used to skate growing up. It's a NHL tradition for each member of the cup-winning team to have possession of the cup for one day. It will be on display Wednesday, July 31st from 4:30 to 6:00pm in the south building.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Sophomore Cross Country Runner Mikayla Reed from Washington High School. Mikayla has already accumulated a lost list of accomplishments in the first couple of years of her high school career. As a Freshman, she was fifth in the 3200 Meter Run at the state track and field championships and had the third fastest time ever by a Freshman. John Lackey hurled seven-and-a-third frames of shutout ball to lift the Cardinals past the Cubs, 4-0, in Game One of their National League Division Series at Busch Stadium. Lackey struck out five batters and walked one to earn the win. Tommy Pham drilled a solo shot for the Cards, and Stephen Piscotty capped off the scoring with a two-run dinger. St. Louis now holds a 1-0 series lead.
