The MSHSAA High School Basketball State Championships are underway in Columbia.

Girls Class 2 Semifinal
Rachel Steinhoff scored 21-points with Emily Kallmeyer pumping in 10 leading the New Haven Lady Shamrocks to a convincing 49-33 victory over Marceline Thursday afternoon. Kayla Meyer pulled down eight rebounds and Steinhoff grabbed seven boards. The Rocks shot 44-percent from the floor while Marceline shot a frigid 22-percent in the first half and 33 percent for the game.

New Haven will Meet Crane in the Championship game Saturday evening at 5:00 at Mizzou Arena. Crane took care of Skyline in the other semifinal 70-51. Crane is 29-3 going into the title game while the Rocks are 21-10. The game will be broadcast live on KLPW-AM 1220 with a 4:45 pregame.

In Class 3, St. James lost to Cameron 68-53. The Lady Tigers will play for third place at 1:40 Friday afternoon at Mizzou Arena

State Championships run through Saturday.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Anna Houston with the Union Track and Field Team. She was recently named the Girls Outstanding Performer in the Four Rivers Conference Meet at St. Clair High School. Anna ran in the district meet in Jefferson City Saturday and qualified for the sectional in the 100 and 300 hurdles, the long jump and the 4X400 Relay.

The Missouri State High School Activities Association Championship Track and Field competition will run today and tomorrow at Lincoln University in Jefferson City. Boys and girls in classes 1 and 2 will compete.
