Sharks Double Up Blues In St. Louis

The Sharks doubled up the Blues 4-2 at Scottrade Center. Kevin Shattenkirk and Jay Bouwmeester both scored for the Blues, who have dropped two in-a-row on the heels of a three-game winning streak. Jaroslav Halak allowed all four goals on 27 shots in the setback.

The Blues are without team captain David Backes. Backes has a concussion, according to reports. He missed the game against San Jose Tuesday. Backes is listed as day-to-day. He has missed only three games in the past six seasons.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Union Post 297 Senior American Legion Baseball Player Trey Fink. Earlier this season in a game against St. Peters, Trey pitched a complete game with 11 strike outs and no walks in an 8-1 win. He also went the distance in a tough luck 6-1 loss to Washington. He only gave up four hits with 13 strike outs and one walk. Time and again, Trey has proven his ability to go deep into games.

The shootings at Emmanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina, however, stands out for two main reasons.

It involved race, and it was done it a church.

Local Senior Legion teams are getting ready for the trip to the 2015 Blue Springs Woodbat Tournament. Washington, Union and St. Charles will compete in the event which will run Wednesday through Sunday at the Hidden Valley Athletic Complex.
