Senior Legion Baseball-Wednesday, June 25

Washington Post 218 knocked off St. Peters 14-3 at the Rec Plex. Justin Shuler didn't have his best stuff but battled through four innings giving up just two runs to get the win. Seth Bollmann and Sam Katzung had three hits apiece and Todd Kleekamp scored three times as Washington improved to 15-7 overall and 7-3 in 9th District action. Nathan Hillermann pitched the last three innings as the game was called in the 7th due to the 10-run mercy rule. Washington is back in action Friday night with a home game against Wentzville at 7:00. The game will be broadcast live on KLPW-AM 1220.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Washington Softball Player Megan Micke. The Junior Shortstop had a terrific start to the season helping the Jays to a second place finish in the Union Tournament Saturday. In three games, Megan had 11 plate appearances, eight official at-bats, four hits, including a double, an rbi, a stolen base with six runs scored, three walks and two strike outs.

Matt Holliday singled in the go-ahead run in the seventh inning as the Cardinals rallied past the Pirates 5-4 in the first of three from Busch Stadium. Kolten Wong hit a pinch-hit two-run homer earlier in the seventh to tie the game at four.
