Washington defeated De Soto 6-4. Zack Pointer posted the win with four innings of work, three runs on two hits, four strike outs and four walks. At the plate, Trent Leimkuehler had two hits with two runs scored.

The game with Sullivan was cancelled

Sunday
Eureka scored two runs in the sixth to beat Washington 3-2. Justin Schuler suffered the loss.

Washington is now 6-3 overall. They are back in action Tuesday night with a road game at St. Charles. 6:00 first pitch at Blanchette Park. Tyler Tuepker is the scheduled starter. The game will be broadcast live on KLPW-AM 1220.

There are few things more inspiring in life than watching an octogenarain with two hip replacements swimming a 200 yard race, or guys in their late 70's playing some pretty vigorous 3 on 3 basketball. A generation of baby boomers is learning that, while they can't reverse age, they certainly can embrace life!

A.J. Pierzynski appears to have found a new home. The catcher is expected to join the St. Louis Cardinals according to the "Post-Dispatch." Pierzynski was released by the Boston Red Sox a few weeks ago. The Cards are expected to be without Yadier Molina for another six-to-ten weeks after thumb surgery. The 37-year-old Pierzynski hit .254 with four homers in 72 games with Boston prior to his departure.
