Senior Legion Baseball

Washington has racked up another win in the 9th District. Post 218 traveled to Fireman's Park Tuesday evening and returned home with a 12-9 victory over Wentzville Post 323. Luke Hasenjaeger started and improved his record to 3-1. Dilan Bollmann had four hits, Trent Leimkuehler finished with three hits and four batted in while Matt Jones recorded three hits with three batted in. Washington is now 23-3 overall and 15-0 in league play. They can clinch the 9th District regular season title with a win at home tonight. Washington will play Warrenton at 6:00 and St. Charles at 8:30. The 8:30 game will be broadcast live on KLPW-AM 1220.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Gus Kleekamp with the Washington Post 218 Junior American Legion Baseball Team. Gus pitches, plays shortstop and bats third on the Junior Legion team that won the state championship in Blue Springs over the weekend. He posted the save in a 4-3 win over Festus in the title game. His batting average is .400 with 47-rbi and 47 runs scored.

The Washington Post 218 Seniors are headed to state. Washington cruised through the zone 1 tournament capping off their run with a 14-9 win over Moberly in the championship game Sunday afternoon. Washington led by 10 into the bottom of the ninth. Matt Miller was the winning pitcher as Washington improved to 33-3 on the season. Ross Seitter, Aaron Meyer and Nate Hillermann all had two hits apiece. Washington banged out 14 as a team.
