Washington will host Daniel Boone in a 9th District match-up at Ronsick Field this evening. Daniel Boone beat Washington 7-4 in a rain shortened game Monday night at C&H Park. Post 218 is 6-3 overall and 4-3 in district action while Post 262 is 2-2 and 1-1. Spencer Juergens is the scheduled starter for Washington this evening. 8:30 game time. Live on KLPW-AM 1220.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Junior Running Back/Defensive Back Jonathan Braun with the St. Francis Borgia Knight Football Team. Braun ran the ball 21 times for 195 yards and two touchdowns in Friday night's 31-19 win over the Union Wildcats, averaging 9.3 yards per carry. He also plays defensive back where he made one tackle.

August 9, 2014, will forever be marked in the history books as the date Michael Brown was shot by a Ferguson police officer.

It is the aftermath of that event, however, which history will forever remember. The protesters, the looters, the agitators, the Hands Up Don't Shoot movement, the dramatic announcement of the grand jury, the buildings up in flames. In the process, the community and image of Ferguson was destroyed.

J.A. Happ tossed seven scoreless innings as the Pirates dropped the Cardinals, 9-3 at Busch Stadium. Happ struck out eight to earn his fourth win with Pittsburgh. Starling Marte finished with three hits and three RBI as the Bucs snapped a four-game skid. Carlos Martinez gave up seven hits and four runs to take the loss for St. Louis. Cody Stanley notched a pinch-hit two-run single in defeat.
