Royals Rally Past Cards

Eric Hosmer singled in the go-ahead run in the top of the ninth inning as the Royals rallied past the Cardinals 8-7 at Busch Stadium. Kolten Wong smacked a grand slam in the second, while Peter Bourjos hit a solo shot in the sixth to give the Cards a 7-6 lead. Trevor Rosenthal fell to 0-and-3 with the loss. The Redbirds have dropped three in-a-row and six-of-seven overall.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Sophomore Soccer Player Anna Merseal from St. Clair High School. Anna currently leads the team with 15 goals and nine assists. Last game out, Anna scored leading the Bulldogs to a 2-0 win over Fatima. Coach Tim Isgrig says Anna has worked hard to improve her game in the past year. Her teammates respect her and look to her for leadership. Anna is also a very good student. Current GPA is 3.8.

A late surge by the Cardinals gave them a 6-1 win over the Reds at Busch Stadium. Yadier Molina hit a three-run double in the seventh inning to break the tie. The Cards put up two more runs in the eighth to secure the win. Michael Wacha pitched seven innings of one-run ball for St. Louis to improve to 2-and-0. The Cards have won three straight.
