Rizzo Powers Cubs Past Cardinals

Anthony Rizzo stroked a two-run single and a solo homer to help the Cubs beat the Cardinals 6-5 in the first of a three-game series at Wrigley Field. Welington Castillo went 3-for-4 with two RBI for Chicago, which built an early 5-2 lead against Adam Wainwright. Travis Wood pitched seven innings of three-run ball for his second win. Hector Rondon worked the ninth for his second save. Wainwright allowed all six runs in five innings of work to fall to 5-and-2 with the loss. Jhonny Peralta went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer and three RBI for St. Louis, which has lost three of its last four games.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Junior Running Back/Defensive Back Jonathan Braun with the St. Francis Borgia Knight Football Team. Braun ran the ball 21 times for 195 yards and two touchdowns in Friday night's 31-19 win over the Union Wildcats, averaging 9.3 yards per carry. He also plays defensive back where he made one tackle.

It is the aftermath of that event, however, which history will forever remember. The protesters, the looters, the agitators, the Hands Up Don't Shoot movement, the dramatic announcement of the grand jury, the buildings up in flames. In the process, the community and image of Ferguson was destroyed.
