Reds Romp Cards

Six runs in the first and three in the second helped the Reds cruise to a 10-0 victory over the Cardinals in the finale of a three-game set at Busch Stadium. Adam Wainwright was charged with nine runs in two innings as he fell to 15-and-8. St. Louis only had five hits and grounded into two double plays. The Cards lead the Pirates by a half-game and Cincy by three-and-a-half games in the NL Central. The Cards and Bucs start a three-game set tomorrow.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Senior Swimmer Michael Matthews from St. Francis Borgia Regional High School in Washington. Michael medalled in two events at the state swim meet at the St. Peters Rec-Plex. He took 7th in the 50-Yard Freestyle and 4th in the 100-Yard Butterfly. Michael also medalled in four events in the AAA Conference meet, helping Borgia secure the conference title.

Max Pacioretty scored twice on his 26th birthday as the Canadiens cruised to a 4-1 win over the Blues at the Bell Centre. Vladimir Tarasenko scored the lone goal in the first period for St. Louis, which fell to 0-and-2 on its four-game road trip. Jake Allen allowed all four goals on 30 shots in the setback. The Blues skate in Ottawa tomorrow.
