Reds' Nine-Run Ninth Ruins Cards

The Cardinals gave up nine runs in the top of the ninth inning and lost 13-4 to the Reds in the home opener at Busch Stadium. Brandon Phillips' RBI double broke a 4-all tie and ignited the uprising. Mitchell Boggs allowed seven runs in just a third of an inning to take the loss. Yadier Molina singled in a run for the Cards, who were outhit 14-to-4 in defeat.

It was a tradition filled Opening Day for the Cardinals at Busch Stadium. The Clydesdales trotted around the warning track and Cardinals Hall of Fame legends rode in cars, including Lou Brock, Bob Gibson, Red Schoendienst, Ozzie Smith, Bruce Sutter and Whitey Herzog. Stan Musial was also honored after passing in January.

The Cardinals and Reds play the second of their three-game series at Busch Stadium tonight. Lance Lynn heads to the hill for St. Louis, while Cincinnati gives the ball to Bronson Arroyo. Lynn allowed four runs in four innings in a no-decsion last week in a game the Cards eventually lost 10-9 at Arizona. Arroyo beat the Angels 5-4 last week.

After a season opening loss to Washington, Allison has helped St. Clair win four straight, which included the Clayton Tournament Championship. Allison is currently averaging more than 12 points and eight rebounds per game. She is sporting a 35% shooting percentage, hitting 36% on two's and 28% on three's.
