Reds Double Up Cardinals

Devin Mesoraco had a solo homer and drove in two as the Reds picked up a 4-2 win over the Cardinals at Great American Ballpark. Jay Bruce added a solo shot while Joey Votto lifted an RBI double for Cincinnati. Mat Latos pitched seven innings of two-run ball to improve to 6-and-0 while Aroldis Chapman recorded his 16th save. The Reds ended a three-game slide. Allen Craig and Jon Jay each drove in a run for St. Louis in defeat. Tyler Lyons gave up four runs in five-and-a-third innings to fall to 2-and-2. The Cards have lost three out of five.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Senior Volleyball Player Jordan Kriete from St. Francis Borgia Regional High School in Washington. Jordan played all the way around on a team that finished the season 26-7-2. Her statistics are impressive.

When people threaten violence or blankly label one as a racist, it's very hard to listen. The same holds true for those who sum up the plight of impoverished black communities as "that's how those people are."

The St. Louis Cardinals are exercising the 2015 option on pitcher John Lackey. The 36-year-old right-hander will earn the league minimum 500-thousand-dollars after making 15.25-million each of the last three seasons. Lackey was acquired from Boston at the trade deadline and his contract had a clause allowing for a league-minimum option after missing the entire 2012 season due to elbow surgery.
