Rays Advance To ALDS

The Tampa Bay Rays have advanced to the American League Division Series. Delmon Young homered and Alex Cobb tossed six-and-two-thirds scoreless innings as the Rays blanked the Indians 4-0 in the AL Wild Card Game at Progressive Field. The Rays will take on the Red Sox in Game One of the best-of-five ALDS on Friday in Boston. The Detroit Tigers and Oakland Athletics will meet in the other ALDS starting Friday.

Both National League Division Series get started tonight. In the opener, the Pittsburgh Pirates take on the St. Louis Cardinals in Game One of their National League Division Series at Busch Stadium. The Pirates advanced to the NLDS with a 6-2 win over the Cincinnati Reds in the NL Wild Card game on Tuesday. The Pirates won 10 of the 19 regular season meetings between the two teams. In the night cap, the Los Angeles Dodgers battle the Atlanta Braves in Game One of the other NLDS at Turner Field. August 9, 2014, will forever be marked in the history books as the date Michael Brown was shot by a Ferguson police officer.

It is the aftermath of that event, however, which history will forever remember. The protesters, the looters, the agitators, the Hands Up Don't Shoot movement, the dramatic announcement of the grand jury, the buildings up in flames. In the process, the community and image of Ferguson was destroyed.
