Rams Hold Off Saints

The Rams intercepted Drew Brees twice in the first two possessions and turned those turnovers into touchdowns on their way to a 27-16 win over the Saints. Zac Stacy ran for 133 yards on 28 carries and scored a touchdown on a 40-yard run. Kellen Clemens passed for only 158 yards bur threw touchdown passes to Cory Harkey and Lance Kendricks. Robert Quinn had two sacks and a fumble recovery. The Rams ended a two-game winning streak to move to 6-and-8. Brees completed 39 of 56 passes for 393 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed for a score. Marques Colston caught eight passes for 92 yards and a touchdown but New Orleans lost its grip on first place in the NFC South. The Saints are tied with Carolina at 10-and-4.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Freshman Cross Country Runner Julia McIntyre from New Haven High School. Julia finished sixth in the state meet in Jefferson City with a time of 20:58.40 at the Oak Hills Golf Course in Jefferson City earlier this month. She helped her team to a 12th place finish. Julia was a straight A student at Franklin County R-2 and she continues to get A's in high school.

Alex Collins ran for 130 yards and three touchdowns as the Missouri Tigers fell to Arkansas, 28-3, Friday afternoon at Reynolds Razorback Stadium. The defense for Mizzou could have hardly started any better, as they allowed positive yardage on just one of Arkansas' first eight plays. In all, five of those eight plays went for negative yardage, including a Ricky Hatley sack to give the defense two three-and-outs to start the game.
