Pirates Power Past Cards To Even NLDS

Pedro Alvarez and Starling Marte hit home runs to power the Pirates to a 7-1 win over the Cardinals in Game Two of their National League Division Series at Busch Stadium. Gerrit Cole allowed just two hits and one run in six innings for the win as Pittsburgh evened the best-of-five series at a game apiece. Cole opened the scoring with an RBI single and Russell Martin drove in a pair of runs for the Bucs. Lance Lynn allowed five runs in four-and-a-third frames to take the loss for St. Louis. Yadier Molina homered for the Cardinals' lone run. The series shifts to Pittsburgh for Game Three on Sunday.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Freshman Cross Country Runner Julia McIntyre from New Haven High School. Julia finished sixth in the state meet in Jefferson City with a time of 20:58.40 at the Oak Hills Golf Course in Jefferson City earlier this month. She helped her team to a 12th place finish. Julia was a straight A student at Franklin County R-2 and she continues to get A's in high school.

Scottie Upshall scored the game-winning goal early in the third period to help the Blues slip by the Blue Jackets 3-1 at the Scottrade Center. Vladimir Tarasenko added his 14th goal of the season and Jake Allen made 23 saves to earn the win for St. Louis, which improved to 15-6-and-3. Ryan Johansen tallied the lone goal for Columbus, which had won two straight. Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 29 of 31 shots in the loss.
