Pirates Host Reds In NL Wild Card Game Tonight

The 2013 Major League Baseball playoffs get started tonight. The Pittsburgh Pirates host the Cincinnati Reds in the NL Wild Card game at PNC Park. Francisco Liriano gets the ball for the Pirates. The Reds will counter with Johnny Cueto. The Bucs are in the postseason for the first time in 21 years. The winner will advance to play the NL Central Division champion St. Louis Cardinals in the NLDS starting Thursday. The Tampa Bay Rays and Cleveland Indians will play Wednesday in the AL Wild Card game. Tampa topped Texas 5-2 in a tiebreaker game on Monday.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Borgia Freshman Golfer Thomas Alferman. Alferman is a member of the Borgia team that qualified for the state tournament at Silo Ridge in Boliver this week. In the district tournament at the Sullivan Country Club, Thomas shot a 13 over par 84 helping the team to a second place finish.

What will the future hold for the Class of 2015? Time will tell.

My youngest has now graduated from high school. Back in 1980, I was the youngest of my family who graduated.
