Pirates Clip Cards In Rubber Match

Tony Sanchez doubled in the go-ahead run in the seventh inning as the Pirates clipped the Cardinals 2-1 in the rubber match of a weekend series at PNC Park. Neil Walker had an RBI double in the fourth for the Bucs, who improved to 4-and-2. Tony Watson grabbed the win and Jason Grilli earned his first save. Jon Jay tripled in the lone run in the sixth for St. Louis, which slipped to 3-and-3. Adam Wainwright struck out seven over seven frames, but allowed both runs to suffer the loss and fall to 1-and-1.
