Early Thursday morning, I received news that vandals had broken in to St. Francis Borgia Grade School in Washington, causing extensive damage to several classrooms and offices. School was closed for the day as the Washington Police Department went about their business of securing what had changed from a school community to a crime scene overnight.
The Cardinals rallied from down 8-4 in the bottom-of-the-sixth to beat the Cubs, 10-9, at Busch Stadium. Mark Reynolds went 2-for-3 with a first-inning grand slam and Tony Cruz belted a two-run double to give St. Louis the lead in the seventh. Kolten Wong went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI for the Cards, who are off to their best start since 1900 at 19-and-6. Miguel Socolovich picked up the win.
