On the evening of December 2, nearly the entire nation of Venezuela went dark in the second massive power outage to take place in less than a year. Rather than take responsibility for the failures of the state-owned electric company, socialist president Nicolas Maduro instead told the Venezuelan people to "be strong against this electrical war that fascists have declared against our people."
The Royals are pushing for a reunion with free-agent outfielder Carlos Beltran. The "New York Post" reports the 36-year-old slugger has been visiting with KC officials the last two days. Beltran, who played for the Royals from 1998-2004, hit .296 with 24 home runs last season with St. Louis.
