Hermann edged St. James 7-6
Montgomery County had no problem with Owensville 11-1
St. Clair beat Festus 11-7 behind a complete game pitching performance from Brendan Murphy.

Warrenton opened the season with a 7-4 win over Fox

Lindbergh/Mehlville Tournament...
Sullivan hammered St. Mary's 11-1 in five innings. Joey Lochner homered for the Eagles.

Soccer...
Fox Tournament...
Kennedy shut out Sullivan 3-nil. The Eagles will play Festus today at 4:00 at Fox High School.

Other action....

Union routed North County Bonne Terre 10-0. The Cats are now 3-0 and have racked up 24 goals over that span.

Borgia shut down St. Clair 5-0 with Emily Grahl scoring four goals.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Junior Basketball Player Hailey Diestelkamp with the Owensville Dutchgirls. She recently became the all-time scoring leader at Owensville High School surpassing Katie Davis. Hailey played volleyball her first two years of high school, but after suffering an injury playing basketball last summer, she decided to focus on basketball this year. Hailey runs track in the spring.

It came as a shock to a lot of people to find out that the contract for the Union license office, which has been operated by the Union Chamber of Commerce since the 1970's, was being turned over to a for-profit company based out of Jefferson City.

What happened? It's a classic case of two all-too-common phenomena in the world of government--unintended consequences and the revolving door.

Saint Louis erased a nine-point second half deficit and had a shot to win it late, but fell 60-56 against UMass Saturday in a thrilling Atlantic 10 Conference game at Chaifetz Arena. It was the fourth loss in a row for the Billikens, who fall to 9-12 overall and 1-7 in league play. UMass improves to 12-9 overall and 5-3 in the A-10. The Billikens had the ball down by two with the shot clock off.
