Boys Basketball...
Borgia erased a two point half-time deficit and outscored Bishop DuBourg 23-9 in the second half in a 52-38 victory at Borgia Regional High School last night. Walton Eckelkamp led the Knights with 15 points. Zac Schweissguth and Tyler Breckenkamp added 10 apiece. Borgia improves to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in the AAA Conference. DuBourg was led by William Kayser with 10 points. Joe Carr was averaging more than 26 points per game going in, but he picked up a technical foul in the first quarter and by team policy had to sit the rest of the game. The Cavaliers drop to 2-3.

Girls Basketball...
Peoples Bank Holiday Tournament at Sullivan...
Championship Semifinals...
Borgia defeated Waynesville 47-28. Janie Arand scored 15 to lead Borgia. Megan Jensen added 14.
Sullivan downed Owensville 44-42. Taylor Lucas and Tessa Johanning scored nine each for the Lady Eagles. Owensville was paced by Hailey Diestelkamp with 23.
Consolation Semifinals...
Washington knocked off Pattonville 53-39. Kyra Hardesty scored 15 points, Paige Carpenter pumped in 13 and Rachel Kackley added 12.
Cuba beat Farminton 50-47.

Potosi Tournament...
Championship Semifinal-St. James downed Arcadia Valley 94-51. Alexis Uffmann led the way with 22 points, nine assists and eight steals, followed by Ashlee Marlatt with 21. St. James will play Park Hills Central in the championship game Saturday at 3:00.

Wrestling...
Washington defeated Fort Zumwalt South 53-18 to improve to 3-1.

ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Union Post 297 Senior American Legion Baseball Player Trey Fink. Earlier this season in a game against St. Peters, Trey pitched a complete game with 11 strike outs and no walks in an 8-1 win. He also went the distance in a tough luck 6-1 loss to Washington. He only gave up four hits with 13 strike outs and one walk. Time and again, Trey has proven his ability to go deep into games.

Over the course of the past 16 years doing commentary on air and in print, there have sadly been many mass shootings and many predictable politicized reactions.

The shootings at Emmanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina, however, stands out for two main reasons.

It involved race, and it was done it a church.

The Washington Seniors played two games Sunday and finished 1-1 for the day. Post 218 thrashed Pacific 29-4 with Mitch Barrow posting five hits. In the second game, Washington lost to Warrenton 4-3 at Warrenton High School. Ben Stephens pitched a complete game with nine strike outs and five walks to post the win. The game was tied at two after the first inning.
