Holt beat the Washington Blue Jays 8-2 at Ronsick Field. Josh Abegg pitched five innings for the Indians, how 15-4 overall and 7-0 in the GAC Central. Jared Walde suffered the loss as the Jays dip to 11-9 and 2-6. Todd Hellmann had three hits and Brock Hopkins chipped in with two hits.
Elsewhere...
St. Clair jumped all over Herculaneum 18-8 in five innings
Warrenton shut out St. Charles 15-0
De Soto swepped a doubleheader from Sullivan 5-3 and 11-2
Borgia cruised to a doubleheader sweep over Dubourg 4-0 and 12-0.
New Haven downed Belle 19-1. Garrett Schoenfeld had three hits and two runs. Brandon Carey finished with two hits and three batted in.
Rolla beat St. James 11-1
Hermann posted a 9-7 win over Pacific
Union took down Owensville 15-4. Ashton Dehn was the winner. Emmett Parker finished the game with three hits, two runs and two batted in.

Washington took third place. Three Washington golfers qualified for the sectional, Colby Schuster, Mark Stahlhuth and Brad Carpenter.

ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Union Post 297 Senior American Legion Baseball Player Trey Fink. Earlier this season in a game against St. Peters, Trey pitched a complete game with 11 strike outs and no walks in an 8-1 win. He also went the distance in a tough luck 6-1 loss to Washington. He only gave up four hits with 13 strike outs and one walk. Time and again, Trey has proven his ability to go deep into games.

Over the course of the past 16 years doing commentary on air and in print, there have sadly been many mass shootings and many predictable politicized reactions.

The shootings at Emmanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina, however, stands out for two main reasons.

It involved race, and it was done it a church.

The Washington Seniors played two games Sunday and finished 1-1 for the day. Post 218 thrashed Pacific 29-4 with Mitch Barrow posting five hits. In the second game, Washington lost to Warrenton 4-3 at Warrenton High School. Ben Stephens pitched a complete game with nine strike outs and five walks to post the win. The game was tied at two after the first inning.
