Borgia scored seven runs in the first inning and never looked back in a 10-2 win over
St. Clair in the first round of the Class 4 District 4 tournament at Pacific High School last night. Spencer Juergens pitched six innings for the win. He also had two hits with two runs scored. Justin Baylard and Evan Ayers added two hits apiece, as Borgia improved to 20-5. St. Clair ends the season at 6-16. Kody Halmich suffered the loss. Adam Hinson had a couple of hits.

In the other first round game, Priory banged out 14 hits in a 5-0 win over the Union Wildcats.


The Sullivan/St. James continuation game has finally ended. Jake Lochner struck out five in the last two innings leading the Eagles to a 3-2 win over the Tigers. Sullivan wins the Four Rivers Conference outright with a 7-0 record. Pacific finishes second.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Sophomore Cross Country Runner Mikayla Reed from Washington High School. Mikayla has already accumulated a lost list of accomplishments in the first couple of years of her high school career. As a Freshman, she was fifth in the 3200 Meter Run at the state track and field championships and had the third fastest time ever by a Freshman. Highlights this year in cross country include first place at the St.

No matter how many years pass, few of us old enough to understand the scope of what happened on September 11, 2001 will ever forget those video images of planes flying through skyscrapers, which then crumbled into dust. Perhaps out of psychological necessity, we have distanced ourselves from the visceral emotions of that day.
