Orchard Farm Tournament...
Union knocked off Orchard Farm 61-26 with Alyssa Coons knocking down 20 points.
The Lady Cats advance to the title game.

Clayton Round Robin...
St. Clair topped McClure North 51-32. Karissa Hoffmann recorded a double/double with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Allison Hinson added 12 points and six steals.

Championship semifinal-Hermann 51 Mexico 33
Consolation semifinal-New Haven 47 Wellsville 22. Rachel Steinhoff led the rocks with 22.

Boys JV action...
Borgia won the Triple-A tournament with a 57-32 win over Trinity.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Washington Softball Player Megan Micke. The Junior Shortstop had a terrific start to the season helping the Jays to a second place finish in the Union Tournament Saturday. In three games, Megan had 11 plate appearances, eight official at-bats, four hits, including a double, an rbi, a stolen base with six runs scored, three walks and two strike outs.

I have been behind the microphone for 10 years now. In the course of time, I have covered many elections and have seen first-hand how bruising and hurtful campaigns can be to people. None have been as difficult to watch, however, as the annexation battle in Washington--which pitted good people who care about their community against good people who care about their community.

Matt Holliday singled in the go-ahead run in the seventh inning as the Cardinals rallied past the Pirates 5-4 in the first of three from Busch Stadium. Kolten Wong hit a pinch-hit two-run homer earlier in the seventh to tie the game at four. Holliday also had a two-run double in the third for the Redbirds, who have won three straight to take over first place in the NL Central. St.
