The Washington Blue Jays ended up going 2-2 in the 35th Meramec Holiday Festival Basketball Tournament. The Jays led De Smet 31-24 at the half in the third place game Sunday evening, but were outscored 36-20 in the second half to fall 61-51 to the Spartans. John Barron scored 24 for De Smet while three Jays hit double figures, Brad Carpenter, Luke Schroepfer and Ronnie Suggs with 12 apiece. Washington drops to 9-4 while the Spartans improve to 8-3. Washington will play again Friday at home against Holt.

Girls...
The girls championship game of the Park Hills Central Holiday Tournament was postponed Monday night and is rescheduled for Wednesday evening. A JV game is scheduled for 6:00 with the varsity teams playing for the championship at 7:30.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Anna Houston with the Union Track and Field Team. She was recently named the Girls Outstanding Performer in the Four Rivers Conference Meet at St. Clair High School. Anna ran in the district meet in Jefferson City Saturday and qualified for the sectional in the 100 and 300 hurdles, the long jump and the 4X400 Relay.
