Local College Sports Update

East Central Softball (11-6) hit the road for the beginning of spring break and also hit the ball with determination. The first two double headers of the road trip had the Falcons coming up big with four victories. The double header against Missouri Valley JV went all for the Falcons with wins of 11-1 and 23-1. Chelsea Bax and Sarah Westhoff collected the wins pitching for the Falcons and the entire team contributed to the hit parade. Haley Zenner led the charge with seven RBI and the rest of the team was right behind her. Elaine Shoenberger, Kaitlin Evans, Michelle Bryant, Ashley Hill, Sarah Westhoff, Alex Adelsberger and Brittany Miller all had multiple hit games.

The Ft. Scott Community College games were closer in the score book as the Falcons ended up winning 5-4 and 6-0 over the Greyhounds. Ashley Hill and Rachel Micke were the winning pitchers in the contests respectively. A tough first game had the Falcons down early 3-0, but they clawed their way back to win the game in the top of the seventh inning. Brittany Miller collected two RBI in the game to lead ECC offensively. The second game was all ECC as Kaitlin Evans and Haley Zenner both registered two RBI each in the 6-0 victory.

If you want to get someone's attention, whisper. That old investment brokerage ad is the opposite of what is going on regarding shootings in Ferguson and Tower Grove. When people threaten violence or blankly label one as a racist, it's very hard to listen. The same holds true for those who sum up the plight of impoverished black communities as "that's how those people are."
