A high scoring game had East Central College (12-9) coming out victorious in the quarterfinal round of the NJCAA Region 16 Men’s Soccer Tournament over Metropolitan Community College- Blue River by a score of 4-3. The game was a tough battle for the Falcons who were looking to avenge a 2-1 regular season loss in the last seconds of double overtime against the Trailblazers.

The Falcons finished the regular season with a victory over Rend Lake Community College by scores of 25-23, 25-20, 25-19. A strong performance at end of the season has ECC looking to make their mark in the post season this coming weekend at Cottey College in Nevada, MO.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Senior Baseball Player Kyle Ruediger from New Haven High School. At the plate, Kyle has a team leading .486 average with 14 rbi, two triples and six doubles. He has struck out just five times while drawing 11 walks. Kyle also has seven stolen bases on the year. He plans to attend the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Early Thursday morning, I received news that vandals had broken in to St. Francis Borgia Grade School in Washington, causing extensive damage to several classrooms and offices. School was closed for the day as the Washington Police Department went about their business of securing what had changed from a school community to a crime scene overnight.
