Senior 9th District Tournament at Westhoff Park
Washington shutout Elsberry 5-0 behind the pitching of Justin Schuler. Schuler struck out eight and walked two over eight innings holding Elsberry scoreless on three hits. Matt Jones closed it out with one inning of relief. Grant Eckelkamp had four hits and Tony Helfrich added three hits including a solo homer. Washington improves to 33-6 on the season and will face West this evening at 7:00. Listen live on KLPW-AM 1220.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Gus Kleekamp with the Washington Junior Legion Baseball Team. Gus played shortstop and occasionally pitched during the season. His numbers are impressive. Batting average .409, on-base percentage .504 with a slugging percentage of .582. Gus lead the team not only with his average but also in RBI with 26, triples with five and stolen bases with 28.

There are few things more inspiring in life than watching an octogenarain with two hip replacements swimming a 200 yard race, or guys in their late 70's playing some pretty vigorous 3 on 3 basketball. A generation of baby boomers is learning that, while they can't reverse age, they certainly can embrace life!

After a day off, the Cardinals return to the diamond tonight for the first of a three-game series with the Padres from Petco Park. St. Louis is 56-and-48 this season and trots Lance Lynn to the hill. Lynn is 11-and-7 with a 3.05 ERA. San Diego counters with 9-and-10 Tyson Ross who has a 2.65 ERA this season. First pitch is at 9:10.
