Kozma Scores To Send Cards Past Mariners

Pete Kozma scored on a passed ball in the bottom of the tenth to lift the Cardinals to a 2-1 win over the visiting Mariners at Busch Stadium. Jon Jay knocked in a run to tie the game in the eighth as St. Louis won its sixth in seven games. The Cards maintain a one-game lead on the Pirates atop the NL Central. Kevin Siegrist notched the win after starter Adam Wainwright struck out six and allowed one run over eight innings. Mike Zunino went 2-for-4 and hit a solo homer for Seattle, which has lost five straight. Chance Ruffin took the loss for the M's after starter Hisashi Iwakuma tossed seven innings of three-hit ball.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Senior Golfer Brad Carpenter from Washington High School. In a recent match against Fort Zumwalt South at Wolf Hollow, Brad carded a six under par 29 to lead the team to a 148-176 win over the Bulldogs. Brad will attend Missouri State University in Springfield on a golf and academic scholarship. He started playing golf at the age of 12 and developed an immediate love for the game.
