Jackets turn to McKenna for start vs. Blues

The Blues have won two of their last three games at Nationwide Arena and have won 10 of their last 13 against the Blue Jackets overall. Alexander Steen has a four-game point streak at Nationwide Arena. Jaroslav Halak will start in goal against St. Louisan Mike McKenna, who played with the Peoria Rivermen last season. Jaden Schwartz has five goals and seven assists in his last 11 games. Season series: After competing for years as rivals in the Central Division, these teams are playing for the first time since the Columbus Blue Jackets moved into the Eastern Conference's new Metropolitan Division. The St. Louis Blues won three of four against Columbus last season. 6:00 game time Saturday night.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Washington Softball Player Megan Micke. The Junior Shortstop had a terrific start to the season helping the Jays to a second place finish in the Union Tournament Saturday. In three games, Megan had 11 plate appearances, eight official at-bats, four hits, including a double, an rbi, a stolen base with six runs scored, three walks and two strike outs.

None have been as difficult to watch, however, as the annexation battle in Washington--which pitted good people who care about their community against good people who care about their community.

Jorge Soler launched two home runs in just his third Major League game as the Cubs beat the Cardinals 7-2 at Busch Stadium. Soler went 3-for-3 and drove in three runs while Javier Baez added two RBI. Luis Valbuena and Arismendy Alcantara each hit a solo shot for the Cubs to end a short two game skid. Neil Ramirez earned the win in relief.
