State Championship Golf Competition is today and tomorrow.
Class 4 at Dalhousie in Cape Girardeau...
Brad Carpenter of Washington and Joshua O'Hearn of Timberland are tied for the individual lead after the first round at -1 after both shot a 71 today.
Matt Hoemann finished +17 with an 89, tied for 71st.
Eric Hasenjaeger carded a 94 +22. He is tied for 86th.

Class 3 at Fremont Hills Country Club in Nixa...
Ethan Luecke of Warrenton is tied for third after shooting a three over par 74 in the first round.
Zane West-Derby of Owensville was nine over after carding an 80. He's in a tie for 16th.
Gavin Yociss of Sullivan is tied for 39th, +14 with an 85
Andrew McClure of Borgia is tied for 64th after finishing with an 88 +17
Colin Hayes of St. James is in 92nd place with a 109.

Class 2 at Silo Ridge in Bolivar...
Collin Hart of Hermann is tied for 16th at +10 after finishing the day with an 82.
Ross Henson of Hermann was +13 with an 85. He's tied for 33rd.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Gus Kleekamp with the Washington Junior Legion Baseball Team. Gus played shortstop and occasionally pitched during the season. His numbers are impressive. Batting average .409, on-base percentage .504 with a slugging percentage of .582. Gus lead the team not only with his average but also in RBI with 26, triples with five and stolen bases with 28.

There are few things more inspiring in life than watching an octogenarain with two hip replacements swimming a 200 yard race, or guys in their late 70's playing some pretty vigorous 3 on 3 basketball. A generation of baby boomers is learning that, while they can't reverse age, they certainly can embrace life!

Yangervis Solarte and the San Diego Padres try to secure a series victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on Wednesday night in the middle contest of a three-game series at Petco Park. Acquired from the New York Yankees in the deal that sent third baseman Chase Headley to the Bronx, Solarte is hitting .286 with six RBI in seven games with the Padres.
