The 43rd Annual Washington Tournament tipped off with two games...
Top seeded Washington survived a first round scare edging out the St. Clair Bulldogs 64-61 in overtime. The Jays trailed by 10 with four minutes to play, but rallied back to take the lead. St. Clair guard Damon Arnold hit a three to tie it with ten seconds remaining and they finished regulation tied at 52. Washington outscored St. Clair 12-9 in the extra session to pull it out.
In the other first round game, Bayless beat Westminster 89-53.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Borgia Freshman Golfer Thomas Alferman. Alferman is a member of the Borgia team that qualified for the state tournament at Silo Ridge in Boliver this week. In the district tournament at the Sullivan Country Club, Thomas shot a 13 over par 84 helping the team to a second place finish.

Commencement, it is said, is a beginning. Yet graduations are also the end of an era--for students and their parents. For the kids, it's a time of excitement and promise. For parents, it's a bit more bittersweet.

What will the future hold for the Class of 2015? Time will tell.

My youngest has now graduated from high school. Back in 1980, I was the youngest of my family who graduated.

The Cardinals and Royals renew their I-70 rivalry tonight in Kansas City. It's a battle of first-place teams, with Lance Lynn slated to oppose the Royals' Chris Young in the opener of the three-game set. The teams will rematch with three more games at Busch Stadium in mid-June.
