First Openly Gay Player Makes NFL Debut

Michael Sam is the first openly gay player to take snaps in the NFL. He entered the game Friday night for St. Louis at defensive end with about five minutes to play in the first quarter. Sam registered one tackle and a QB hit in St. Louis' 26-24 loss to the New Orleans Saints. Sam was drafted by the Rams out of Missouri in the seventh round of this year's NFL Draft. He is still trying to make the 53-man roster.

The Washington Seniors will play in the Central Plains Regional this week, despite taking second in the state tournament in Sedalia over the weekend. With Iowa unable to put together the required 12-man roster for the tournament, two teams from Missouri get to go.
