Gracie Sohn-St. Clair Basketball

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Sophomore Forward Gracie Sohn with the St. Clair Lady Bulldogs Basketball Team.

Gracie scored 12 points and pulled down 9 rebounds leading St. Clair to a 47-42 win over Union Monday night.

Gracie is currently averaging 6.5 points and 4.8 rebounds per game.  She is shooting 49 percent from the floor.

Gracie is fortunate to be playing sports at all.  Through her adolescent years, she developed mal-alignment in her legs and by sixth grade, the pain was too much to handle.

It was determined that surgery was needed to correct the mal-alignment in her femur and tibia.  The surgery would involve breaking both of her legs and inserting rods.  Three surgeries were required.

Now, Gracie is not only playing basketball, she also plays volleyball and soccer.

Coach Mike Scheer says it is an amazing success story.  "Gracie was determined to play sports in high school."

Team Goals: District titles in basketball and soccer

GPA: 4.0

Favorite Subjects: Math and Science

Favorite activities away from high school sports:  Boating and Camping
