College Basketball Round-Up

The 3-and-0 St. Louis Billikens travel South of the Border this weekend for the Cancun Challenge Tournament. The Billikins take on Oral Roberts in the opening round on Thursday. The Illini will cap off their five-game homestand against Chicago State Friday night.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Owensville Sophomore Cross Country Runner Carter Bracato. Carter finished 13th in Class 3 with the best time of any local runner at state. He attacked the Oak Hill Golf Club Course in Jefferson City finishing with a time of 16:50.67, leading Owensville to a 6th place finish in the team standings. Carter medalled in several events this season.

"No Justice, No Peace"

Certainly, there was no peace on the streets of Ferguson on the night the grand jury announced it would not indict police officer Darren Wilson for the shooting of Michael Brown.

The images of a city burning were disturbing, saddening and sickening. Every business torched leaves in its wake families who have lost their source of income, and a community that will find it that much harder to rebuild.

Vladimir Tarasenko's goal with less than a minute left in overtime lifted the Blues to a 4-3 win over the Oilers in St. Louis. T.J. Oshie scored and had two assists for St. Louis, which has won three-of-four. Alex Pietrangelo and Kevin Shattenkirk each had a goal and an assist, while Jake Allen needed to make only 13 saves in the win. David Perron, Nikita Nikitin and Mark Arcobello had the goals for Edmonton.
