College Basketball Round-Up

Mizzou basketball will take on Northwestern on Thanksgiving night at Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, with head coach Frank Haith returning from the an NCAA suspension to lead the team for his first game this season. The Tigers are 5-and-0. Illinois rallied from a 10-point halftime deficit to defeat UNLV 61-59 in Vegas. The Fighting Illini are 6-and-0. St. Louis lost to Wisconsin 63-57 in Cancun, Mexico and faces Old Dominion tonight in a consolation game.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is State Champion Wrestler Dalton Voyles from Pacific High School. Dalton won the class 3 title at 182 pounds with a 6-2 decision over Zach Courtoise of Kearney Saturday at the University of Missouri-Columbia. It caps off a tremendous season for Dalton with a 56-2 record. Dalton, who is very good on his feet, took control early in the bout in securing the win over Courtoise.

Johnathan Williams, III and Namon Wright scored 10 points each, but Georgia strengthened its NCAA tournament hopes with a runaway 68-44 win over Missouri on Saturday. Missouri (8-21, 2-14 Southeastern Conference) couldn't manage a second straight win after ending a 13-game losing streak by beating Florida 64-52 on Tuesday night.
