Cards Sweep Set At "The K"

Former Royal Carlos Beltran hit a two-run homer in the first inning and the Cardinals went on to beat the Royals 4-1 at Kauffman Stadium. Matt Carpenter and Matt Holliday also went deep as St. Louis swept the two-game series in KC. Tyler Lyons allowed one run in seven innings for the win and Edward Mujica notched his 16th save.

After playing two games in Kansas City, the Cardinals and Royals now convene at Busch Stadium to begin a two-game series tonight. Lance Lynn puts his 7-and-1 record on the line for the Redbirds, while the Royals counter with 1-and-2 Luis Mendoza. The Cardinals are 34-and-17, a game-and-a-half ahead of the Reds atop the NL Central.
